Juan Carlos Guerri recibió los grados de M.S. y Ph.D. (Dr. Ing.) en Ingeniería de Telecomunicaciones ambos por la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Valencia, España, en 1993 y 1997, respectivamente. Recibió el premio del Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación y la Asociación Española de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación a la mejor tesis doctoral en Ingeniería Telemática.

Actualmente es Catedrático de universidad en la E.T.S. de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación en la UPV, donde lidera el grupo de Comunicaciones Multimedia (COMM) y participa en proyectos de investigación y desarrollo relacionados con la aplicación de las comunicaciones multimedia en la industria, la medicina y la educación.
